All ages welcome

The appointment that
stops the expensive one.

A cavity caught at a check-up is a filling. Left alone, it becomes a crown or a root canal. Routine care is the least dramatic thing we do and the part that saves patients the most money.

What a visit includes

Nothing is abbreviated.

Every routine appointment covers all four of these. They are not add-ons and they are not optional extras.

01

Clinical examination

A full look at every tooth, existing fillings and crowns, the bite, and the soft tissue around them.

02

Digital X-rays

Showing decay between teeth and below the gum line, where nothing is visible to the eye.

03

Six-point periodontal probing

Six measurements around every tooth, tracking gum health over time rather than glancing at it.

04

Oral cancer screening

Checking the tongue, cheeks, palate and throat. Quick, painless, and the reason it matters is obvious.

Worth knowing

The gum probing is the part people skip.

Six-point periodontal probing means six measurements taken around each tooth, recorded and compared visit to visit. It is how gum disease is caught while it is still reversible.

Gum disease is largely painless until it is advanced. By the time a tooth feels loose, bone has already been lost and that bone does not grow back. The numbers on the chart change long before you feel anything — which is the entire point of measuring them.

A gum screening today can prevent periodontal surgery later. It is the least interesting five minutes of the appointment and probably the most valuable.

How often

Six months isn’t a rule for everyone.

Every six months

Right for most adults with healthy gums and low cavity risk. It is frequent enough to catch problems while they are small, and the interval the ADA recommends as a baseline.

More often

Patients with a history of periodontal disease, dry mouth, or an elevated cavity risk are better served by shorter intervals. We will tell you honestly which group you are in rather than defaulting everyone to the same schedule.

Also part of routine care

Prevention, not just inspection.

Spotting a problem is half of it. The rest is stopping the next one.

  • Professional cleaning to remove hardened plaque brushing cannot reach
  • Periodontal screening and gum disease treatment
  • Personalised home care advice from Dr. Kasabji and Dr. Engelhardt
  • Children seen from their first visit onwards
  • Custom mouth guards for sport and for night-time grinding
  • Insurance verified before you arrive
Routine care questions

Answered honestly.

Is a check-up covered by insurance?
Cleanings and examinations are covered by most major dental plans, often at a higher percentage than other treatment. We verify your insurance before you arrive so there are no surprises at the desk.
I haven’t been to a dentist in years. Will I get a lecture?
No. A great many of our patients arrive after a long gap, usually because of cost, anxiety or simply life getting in the way. The appointment is for working out where you are now and what to do next, not for going over what did not happen.
Do I really need X-rays every time?
Not necessarily every visit. How often depends on your cavity risk and history, and digital X-rays use a very low dose. Decay between teeth and below the gum line cannot be seen any other way, which is why they are taken when they are needed rather than skipped.
At what age should my child first be seen?
Early. First visits are largely about getting a child comfortable in the chair and checking development, not treatment. All ages are welcome at both offices.
What if you find something?
We explain what it is, what the options are, and what each would cost, before anything is booked. Urgent things get dealt with first; the rest can be planned around your time and budget.
Are you taking new patients?
Yes, at both offices. Ask about our new patient offer when you call.

Overdue is fine.

Whether it has been six months or six years, the appointment is the same — find out where you stand and decide what to do about it.
